The initial concept was to create some sort of horror/puzzle game that was based on the concept of purgatory and being reborn. We all contributed to this idea, branching off of each other mainly using Discord to express these ideas.
This is a mind map showing all of the different ideas that we could build for this project.
To communicate with one another, Jaydon created a Discord server for all of us to join, this server contained categories so we could post and organise our contributions neatly. We decided to use discord as it’s a platform that we all use daily and have in common. For example, if there is any specific thing we needed to create we would add it to the ‘major-things-to-consider’ section, once completed it’s then marked off as done.
A screenshot from when we were deciding on a name for the game, we all contributed with our own ideas and picked out the best fit.
Screenshots of the Discord server, showing a shot of each member’s contributions within their own organised category with feedback from each other.
Another form of communication and organisation for the project we used was Trello. This website allows everyone within the group to contribute to the list, shifting areas until completion. Trello however compared to Discord towards the end, ended up being the least effective as updates were rarely added.
As far as Scheduling goes, our group had its weekly catch up sessions and meetings to communicate with each other more frequently. The events section on discord allowed us to do this effectively as shown below.
Events like this were greatly used, in my opinion, this was our strongest point of communication as everyone turned up to nearly every session and had something to present. This was also a great chance to get to know each team member clearly and build up skills, giving us the opportunity to collaborate ideas together.
