Solving your Conceptual Design Problem with Photography:

Categories:

This weeks task was to explore photographic solutions to our conceptual design problem. I have taken a slightly different approach to this task as instead of using the apple and the wine glass example, I have created my own photography and merged it into my posters conceptual idea.

Most of the photography elements were objects found around the house, placed either on a wall or a blank background. I did this so it would be easier to cut out later on in photoshop.

Once I had all of the photographs taken, I exported them into Adobe Photoshop and cut the background out of the images turning them into a PNG file. When all of the images were converted I began to construct the layout of the poster using them. First I began with adding the clock to the centre of the page, this was then illustrated on a new layer on top of it. I kept repeating this step for most of my photography because I like the way it combines both a sense of realism and an illustrated reality together.

To capture the actual shape of the characters chasing each other across the clock, I used photography of myself posing as the characters that are on the clock hands. I wore a hat across my face for the second one so I could use the colours of it and smudge the shape into a helmet in photoshop, I did try using a motorcycle helmet but appearance was too bold compared to the rest of the body.

Once the red character was done, I positioned him at the end of the hand of the clock. I did this so it would look like he’s about to leap into the past, escaping into the time period of the dinosaurs.
