Introduction / Use of Colour:

For this assignment, I am going to be creating an animated visual piece that could be projected, using light technology, outside of buildings/shopping centres to get people in the Christmas spirit. The software that I mainly plan on using is Adobe Illustrator and After Effects. Illustrator will be used to make all of the visual elements from scratch, these visuals could start out as sketches and end up being refined later on. After Effects will be used to bring all of these materials together, making the animated sequence come to life.

Here is a brief draft of my aims for this project, written and sketched into a book:

To show colour, I have presented a few sketches and examples of experimentation with the snowflakes and background of the animation.

There are 2 different types of colours added to the snowflakes, one being a harmonious colour change between cool shades of blue to represent the coldness and winter during the holiday period. The other generates more of a warm bright cycle through colours, using “colours found in nature, especially those on the lighter side,”(Tufte,1990) to appear as lights surrounding a Christmas tree.
