This page is devoted to the making of facial features for the face with added detail build up.
To begin, I decided to use the clay build up tool to subtract and carve small features into a variety of angles on the models head. I found using a change in the intensity of the tool to be useful, as I could show a difference between the deeper markings and smaller scratches.

Line working techniques like cross-hatching were used to create texture also, the distance between each line determined the amount of detail added to the area. The closer scratches ended up building up more roughness so I made these areas specifically near edges or curves.
Greater markings have been applied to the back fin of the head, this is to show an element of damage to the character.
Teeth –
Teeth were created by making a new sub tool, originating from a cube shape, flattened and stretched out to a point using the move tool scaled down.

Nose –
To create the nose, I used the standard tool to make 2 small insitions within the centre of the model face with symmetry enabled for accuracy. Once the shape and positioning of the nostrils were in place, I chiselled small scratches into it for enhanced features.

Result:

The next post shall be focusing on applying Polypaint to the character, bringing it to life with colour.
