This week’s theme is ‘Chindogu.’ To create an app/game that seems to be an ideal solution to problems but may cause more problems than they solve. Below is a screenshot is taken from Wikipedia of the definition of what the word Chindogu could mean and apply to this topic.

For this theme, I could have branched pretty far with all sorts of different ideas of apps that can be ideal to solve particular problems but I wanted to aim this app at a particular problem that’s personal to me which is having anxiety in public places. The use of the app will be basic, an app that helps to distract the mind by acting as a fidget item. Thinking about public places, I thought of basing the app on the scene of a Disco, you get pushed by the crowd into the middle of the dance floor having the options to stand, leave or dance.
Title scene:

Using a colour wheel, I generated a harmonious cycle of colours feeding throughout each letter of the title sequence, this lasts until the play button or the info has been selected. I have chosen to have this cycle fit within the disco theme with the flashing colours altering through the whole rainbow.

A greater example of how I’ve used the colour cycle is presented below, each slide here is linked together as a loop with a 1-second gap between each so that the colours flow smoothly through the sequence.

Introduction:

How it works:
As soon as the lights begin to flash, the colours begin to cycle and the app truly commences. It’s the user’s option whether to have the person with the middle stand there awkwardly, make them dance or leave the dance floor. To dance you simply just tap the screen and the character will dance randomly depending on which colour has been tapped on, the crowd also cheers at the user for confidently dancing, there’s also no limit to how much you can dance as it’s a fidget app. The player can also leave at any time to end the game.

Different Dances:
The dances change depending on the colour of the light that’s been chosen, whatever the dance move still equals cheers from the crowd this is to congratulate the user for showing a little confidence in their decision.

Information Transition/Scene:
This scene transitions straight into the widescreen above the DJ’s head, within this, the section explains the main purpose of the game and how to play within a small description.
