Animation Blockout:


For the final animation, I have decided to create more of a character showcase/highlight intro than what I intended on doing from the beginning. This is mainly because of how the model appears now and I feel like the style would be best for this type of sequence.

Inspiration –

For inspiration, I have gathered these 2 videos specifically because of the characters being showcased. The characters both contain shields and similar forms of weaponry that I can take inspiration from with how to handle the movements. These both are characters from the game Overwatch, they use shields in ways of defending and have offensive weapons, the 2 videos present these characters doing short highlight intros for their in-game appearances.

Sketches –

Here are some sketches that I made of potential sequences that I could recreate with inspiration from the previous videos. The scenes that I would like to create involve each asset being used within each different sequence, this is to show the character’s movements in-depth, I may also add a walking cycle scene.

Experimentation in person –

To take my references further, I created a couple of videos of myself acting out some moments so i can look back at it when animating the character.

First Videos focus is to show the appearance of the character with the hammer asset, using it to smack the ground, could cause the camera to shake.
Another Hammer smash but with more of a swing.
A video using both the hammer and the shield assets, having the character defend himself from enemy fire perhaps.

In the next post, I shall be preparing the animations together and experimenting with lighting in the environment.
