Throughout this project, I have developed my ideas and contributions using a range of materials, software and research to achieve my goals.
Character –
Ashen Character Creation inspired the character’s modelled appearance. (Generic Gaming 2018)With thematic and background story in mind, I generated sketches which I annotated for the protagonist.
These characters were modelled from scratch using only the sculpting tool on Zbrush with my reference image in the corner of my sketches. At first as a group, we only planned on having one character for the game but after feedback, I decided to give the player another form to play to create a variety of choices.
A short sequence was created on Adobe Mixamo using preset movements from the software to bring the protagonist to life.
As an addition to the project, I decided to also create this short preview using adobe premiere of the UI for the player selection screen.
Monster –
Branching off monster concepts and ideas with connections to the main character. A concept of, “life instincts are believed to be responsible for much of our behaviour.”(Frued, 2022)
Assets Research –
All furniture was Inspired by The Graduate Hotel, Providence (Graduate Providence, 2022)Borderlands 3 visual design art style By Craig Harrison, I have taken inspiration from this mainly when modelling so I can create small details whilst keeping everything low-poly. All models were built using Zbrush, using a reference image as a guide in the corner as I was sculpting. My furniture models without Karls textures.A presentation of some of the assets that I have modelled with the textures applied by Karl to match the hotel’s visual style and theme of the game.
Animations/Teasers –
Teaser made within Maya, shows the monster approaching the player when receiving a mysterious book.
